Integrated Audio Amplifiers in BCD Technology is the first book to describe the design at Audio Amplifiers using a Bipolar CMOS DMOS (BCD) process. It shows how the combination of the 3 processes, made available by advances in process technology, gives rise to the design of more robust and powerful audio amplifiers which can be more easily implemented in digital and mixed-signal circuits. Integrated Audio Amplifiers in BCD Technology starts with an introduction to audio amplifiers which includes a comparison of amplifier classes, general design considerations and a list of specifications for integrated audio power amplifiers. This is followed by an extensive discussion of the properties of DMOS transistors which are the key components in BCD technologies. Then the theory and the design of chargepump circuits is considered. In most BCD technologies only n-type DMOS transistors are available. Therefore a boosted supply voltage is required to achieve rail-to-rail output capability which can be generated with a chargepump. The new solutions that are found can also be used for many applications where DC-DC conversion with low output ripple is needed. Finally the design of audio power amplifier in BCD technology is discussed. The design concentrates on a new quiescent control circuit with very high ratio between quiescent current and maximum output current and on the output stage topologies. The problem of controlling the DMOS output transistors over a wide range of currents either saturated or non saturated requires a completely new design of the driving circuits that utilize of the special properties of the DMOS transistor. Integrated Audio Amplifiers in BCD Technology is essential reading for practising analog design engineers and researchers in the field. It is also suitable as a text for an advanced course on the subject. With a foreword by Ed van Tuijl.
Increasingly, genomics is having an impact on mainstream healthcare. All health professionals will now be required to understand basic genetic concepts, but the depth of knowledge required will vary according to the role of the practitioner, and the setting in which he or she works.Following the success of Genetics for Healthcare Professionals by Skirton and Patch, which was written for practitioners at foundation level, Applied Genetics in Healthcare approaches the issues of genetic healthcare at a more advanced level and is primarily intended as a handbook for those training or working as genetic specialists. However, the book will also be a useful resource for practitioners who specialize in particular fields of healthcare that require knowledge of genetics in specific topics. Those experienced in genetic healthcare will find the book to be a valuable handbook and a source of references for wider reading. All of the authors have worked extensively in the field of genetic healthcare and have used their experience in both genetics nursing and genetics counseling to create a working handbook that is rooted in clinical practice.

Contributors from around the world tackle the factors that have the greatest impact on creating quality learning opportunities for students: namely policy, school leadership and teaching/teachers lives. Drawing on a range of critical conceptual and empirical perspectives, the contributions illustrate the extent to which experience can be similar around the world. The book sheds much-needed light on the effects of mandated change upon school leaders and teachers, both nationally and internationally. It also demonstrates how teachers have coped or flourished, both because and in spite of the changing circumstances they work under.

Sport Management: principles and applications second edition provides a comprehensive introduction to the practical application of management principles within sport organisations. Ideal for all students studying sport management at an introductory level, it presents an international balanced view between accepted practice and what research evidence tells us about the application of a range of management principles and practices in sport. Structured in two parts it offers an introduction and explanation of the structure of the sport industry and covers the fundamental management issues unique to sport including: strategy, human resource management, leadership, finance, marketing, governance and performance management. Each chapter has a coherent learning structure complete with international case studies and accompanying online lecturer and student support material which:presents a conceptual overview of the focus for the chapter presents accepted practice supported by specific organisational examples at the community, state/provincial, national and professional level, these organisations will include examples specifically from the UK, Australia and New Zealand presents one big case for analysis per chapter, which is supported by online diagnostics and tutor resource materials presents research findings from around the globe presents a summary of guiding principles for the focus of the chapter based on a balanced view of practice and research presents a section of teaching and learning resources including a review questions, further reading, relevant websites provides online access to PowerPoints per chapter, tutorial activities per chapter and test bank of multiple choice questions for students per chapterThis book combines clearly explained theory with a variety of pedagogical features that make it essential for students and teachers of sport management.
The worldwide restructuring of the education system is causing major difficulties at a state level and for individual schools. The book aims to look at the linkages between this restructuring movement and the qualitative improvement it brings
Covering a wide range of issues relating to the topic, this book examines the experiences and perceptions of indigenous peoples in the context of the national states and political systems that have been externally imposed and implemented upon them.Fascinating and incisive, the text discusses a range of areas such as:indigenous territories concepts of political autonomy and sovereignty that have been used to describe and constitute indigenous political projects Western notions of education in relation to indigenous societies educational practice the broad Western historical understanding of the relationship with indigenous societies and the adequacy of the legal notion of beliefto depict Aboriginal religiosity.Contributors to this volume include anthropologists, jurists, educators, indigenous activists, scholars and sociologists.
